Frankenstein was well received when published, and even opened the door for the Gothic movement, which was just coming into fashion at the time. I believe it is a good representation of British society (during the period), and that Shelley most certainly potrayed the social and moral standards, as well as "Enlightenment". Shelley also tackled the reality of ethnicity and isolation.
Frankenstein has influenced the world in various ways since its publication. It is timeless, and have been used as a basis for novels, films, and plays.
