Foe is written from the first person (limited) point of view. Susan, the narrator, tells us what she wants us to know..... thus, she does not share all that she knows. Over the course of the story, the reader is left to make their own assumptions about what happened to Susan's daughter. We don't know who took her, why she was taken, or even if she was truly forced to leave.... possibly she ran away. In the end, we are left to take Susan at her word because we never receive any details or explanations. All the reader has to rely on is the limited information with which we've been provided.
