In MT Anderson's Feed, what can we tell about the physical environment of this future world?

The physical environment of this dystopian world is a travesty. The Earth is deteriorating, the sky is filled with trademark clouds (artificial), and in wealthier areas the seasons are manipulated by pods.... artificial landscapes. Other changes include the rarity of tree, the disappearance of most animals, and polution that is so extreme it causes people to suffer from weeping sores.
