The Wakatsuki family is moved to Block 28 near an old pear orchard. The barrack is twice the size of their old one. They have ceilings and linoleum. They are allowed out of the fence. Papa can search for driftwood to make furniture and they see a woman walking her dog. There is a sense of normality to their camp. This is more an illusion of American life style: they are still prisoners.
