Stanley Kubrick was born in the Bronx, New York on July 26, 1928 to Jacques Kubrick, a doctor, and his wife Sadie. The Kubricks were Jewish and of Central European origin, but Stanley and his younger sister, Barbara, did not have a religious upbringing.
