Who is Esperanza ?

Esperanza is the adolescent daughter of a wealthy landowner. Over the course of the novel, she faces numerous challenges. Her father is killed, her home is burned to the ground, she and her mother escape to California, and she is forced to labor like those who used to work for her family..... not to mention, she must care for her sick mother. Needless to say, the spoiled little girl quickly becomes a hardworking, helpful, and compassionate woman. She is strong, intelligent, and compassionate.
