What is is like in California for Exsperanza? How did she describe California?

Esperanza is both horrified and frustrated by her new home in California. She has a difficult time adjusting to the small living quarters and the conditions at the camp. She notes that their housing is inferior to their servants quarters back home. Her mother, on the other hand, was very gracious.

The cabin Esperanza is living in is small and dusty. She is not happy at all because she was used to living in a big grand place.
