esperanza and miguel take a train ride together as young children compare this train ride to the one they take when going to live in america

Esperanza and Miguel had it made as children; they had great seats, food, snacks, and beautiful scenery. As adults, they rode at the back of the train and occassionally had to stand. There was also little food to eat and the train was stiffling because of how crowded it was.
