Esperanza Rising

At the end of the chapter, the author writes that Esperanza feels "sadness and anger" about all that she was leaving. It's obvious why she feels sadness, but why is she also angry?

Esperanza is angry because members of her own family (her uncles) have put them in a position where they have to run away. Her uncle is responsible for the burning of their home, he wants their land, and he wants her mother. Their situation wasn't merely a result of a fire and subsequent destitution, Esperanza's uncles jointly created that destitution to acquire land.
