What motivates Enrique to stay in the united states with his mother?

Enrique and his mother are having a difficult time. Bad memories and resentments build up causing a rift in their already fragile relationship. Enrique's drug and alcohol abuse do nothing to help the situation.

Maria's presence in Honduras, as well as their daughter's, is a definite draw for Enrique to return. Unfortunately, he hasn't been saving.......... court fines, drugs and alcohol keep him broke. It isn't until he goes to North carolina to work with his friends that Enrique misses his mother and comes to understand that the past is the past.... all they have is the future. This is the turning point, and Enrique finally begins to work toward bringing Maria to the United States.
