Why is it ironic that Petra thinks they will have to go to school on earth?

Why does she think that? Will it be a normal school?

Petra points out that they are kids, so they might have to go to school on Earth. THe irony is that kids should be at school on Earth, normal school. They should not be in space learning how to kill.
