Ender moving in no gravity- He and his friend Alai do really well. Bernard is shut out as leader. Ender feels positive for the first time.

Ender kills the Giant in the Video Game- Ender gets past the poison drinks by gouging the Giant's eyes out and killing him. Ender feels bad that he has to kill in order to proceed. A bit of foreshadowing here.

Ender meets Petra Arkanian- She is an outcast herself. Petra seems to be a friend. Being a girl Petra also adds another dimension to Ender's maturation (growing maturity).
