Miss Ivors is using any information she has about Gabriel to make him uncomfortable.... she's rather demeaning. She highlights where he works and its working class location..... she implies he is a West Brit, something that gets under his skin. Shortly afterward, Miss Ivors grills him on his plans for a holiday..... his reason for not visiting his home.
