What does Jekyll mean when he says that man is “truly two” (104) and that “in the agonized womb of consciousness, these polar twins should be continuously struggling? (105).

Jekyll is referring to his belief that all people are both good and evil, with one side constantly fighting against the other. He implies that a man is not necessarily good or evil, as he has the inherent potential to be either.
