How is Faustus portrayed by the author? Is Faustus happy with his life when the play begins?

Faustus is portrayed as an extremely intelligent men, who believes he has learned eveything there is to learn. He is prideful, arrogant, and ambitious. Unfortunately, his bargain with the Devil is likely the most unintelligent decision he's ever made.

At the start of the play, he is not a happy man.... he is bored.
