Doctor Faustus (Marlowe)

Faustus is arrogant, pompous and a devil-worshipper, yet somehow we like him. What has Marlowe done to make him likeable?

In my opinion, Faustus is likable because his weaknesses and arrogance, though blown into large proportion, are common. We see his errors, and yet we sympathize with him, because he doesn't seem to be able to help himself. He's brilliant, and yet, he is foolish.
