Indeed Doctor Faustus is a morality play! This intense, highly dramatic play revolves around the eternal battle between Satan and humans. Where Satan promises temporary earthly pleasures, religion is about sacrifice and obedience to God. The 7 deadly sins portrayed in this play namely; Pride, Covetousness, Envy, Wrath, Gluttony, Sloth & Lechery are the foundational pillars of satanism.

In this play, Doctor Faustus a German scholar seeks to attain knowledge of transcendental nature. In his self absorbed state with a quest for unimaginable ambition & power, he makes a pact with the chief demon . He easily slips onto the path of necromancy. Through these means, he is able to achieve his desires and ambitions only to be taken away by him from the very one who granted it. At the end of his pact, he suffers a gruesome death in the hands of the demon.

This play is a demonstration of the good versus evil represented by a religious mind. Man indeed is forever in the loop of temptations of varied nature. In the pursuit of worldly desires, man forgets his state of eventual mortality. He seeks shortcuts to attain power and wealth perhaps, only to gain a narrowed slice of land for his body to rest on the earth in the end.
