Discuss faustus ambition at the beginning of the play?

In the beginning of the play, Faustus had learned everything he could at University but continued to thirst for knowledge. He then became interested in necromancy (the black arts) and found it far more interesting than his studies in theology. As a result, he became obsessed with magic and power..... his ambition being to become a powerful sorcerer.
