What is the inciting force of the book?

The inciting force came when Peter Brownrigg threw a stone at Sir Phillip during the destruction of the wall. Sir Phillip had erected the wall claiming the land inside as his own, and Peter took part in its destruction. As a result, Peter's family advised him to go away until everything blew over.
