What is the conflict of Chapter 1?

The main conflict in the first chapter involves the farmers and Sir Phillip. The farmers gather to destroy Sir Phillip's wall, and Sir Phillip's men retaliate. Sir Phillip created the wall to take the common land..... to declare it his own. The farmers were set to tear it down because Sir Phillip had no right to build a wall around something that belonged to everyone.
