In Chapter 18, Peter shows his compassion, as he makes Duncan comfortable. He wanted to escape, but Duncan was kind to him, and he wanted to make him as comfortable as possible, all while insuring that Duncan couldn't escape and interfere with Peter's newly secured freedom.
