Courting Mr Lincoln Irony

Courting Mr Lincoln Irony

The irony of the initial judgment

The first day Mary Todd met Mr. Lincoln, she judged him as an average person who could not marry her. In addition, Mary thought that Mr. Lincoln was a struggling young lawyer who had a long way to go before becoming an accomplished lawyer. Ironically, when Mary started dating Lincoln, she discovered that he is a great man with a big potential. True to her realization, Lincoln excelled in both his career and politics. Later in life, Mr. Lincoln became the president of the United States of America.

The irony of the fickleness of life

The people who knew Lincoln as a young lawyer did not think he would become their president one day. While practicing law in Illinois, people underrate him because he struggled to establish his career. For instance, Joshua Speeds said Lincoln had a bright future in law but not in politics. Ironically, Mr. Lincoln surprised many people when he excelled in politics and became the president of the great republic of the United States of America. Therefore, life is ironic because no one can predict an individual's future.

The irony of friendship

Mr. Lincoln and Joshua Speed have been very close friends since childhood, and readers expect that they are always happy for each other. Ironically, when Joshua Speed realizes that Mr. Lincoln is dating Mary, he feels jealous because he thinks she will take Lincoln away. At some point, these two men are expected to date women and marry them. Therefore, it is ironic for Joshua Speed to feel covetous when Lincoln gets a girlfriend.
