2. Who does Adeline have the closest relationship to? Explain ways this relationship impacted Adeline

In my opinion, Adeline's closest relationship would be with her Aunt Baba, although, she was also close to her grandparents. Aunt Baba was always supportive of Adeline and encouraged her endlessly, even when her support left her condemned by Niang (Adeline's step-mother). Once separated, Baba continues to influence Adeline by providing her with strength in absence, and at the end of the story, it is her letter to Adeline that boosts Adeline's spirits, as well as illustrating the limitless aspects of life.
