Who was Chief Red Cloud? How did other Sioux react to his signing away Sioux land at the Black Hills? Why did he agree to sign the treaty?

Red Cloud was a Sioux leader who signed different peace treaties with the USA. Because if this, he was disregarded by many men in his tribe who abandoned him to join other Indians they believed to be more direct. Red Cloud only signed the treaty after the United States agreed to abandon their posts and end their attempts to open the road. After the garrisons were withdrawn and the forts burned to the ground, Red Cloud signed the Second Treaty of Fort Laramie.
