HOW DO YOU THINK BUD FEELS HAVING TO LINE UP FOR FOOD

Bud is relieved that there are people in line at the mission. He doesn't want to be the only person that is hungry and destitute. Although Bud is ashamed, he is too hungry to care. A man tries to tell Bud that the line is not meant for him but a kindly man pretends Bud is “Clarence” and asks where he's been. Bud realizes the kindly man wants him to eat something.
