Biography of Tony Bancroft

Tony Bancroft is an American director and animator who has worked extensively with Disney. The films he has worked on include The Rescuers Down Under, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, The Lion King, Pocahontas, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Hercules, Mulan, Tarzan, The Emperor's New Groove, Stuart Little 2, Kung Fu Panda: Secrets of the Masters, Animal Crackers (which he directed), and Mary Poppins Returns.

Bancroft was born in Orange County and studied animation at CalArts. After interning at Disney Feature Animation, Bancroft got a job working there in the animation department; his first assignment was assisting the clean-up animator on Roger Rabbit in Roller Coaster Rabbit. Soon after, he became an animation assistant, creating characters for various Disney films.
