Anthem

Why does Ayn Rand use symbolism in her novella Anthem?

I’m writing an essay based on symbolism in Anthem (mainly about how she uses symbolism with Greek myths like Prometheus and Gaea) and I don’t know what to write for my thesis. Help please!!

There are many symbols in this book. The light bulb represents Equality 7-2521's individuality and creative spark. Equality dares to explore scientific possibilities in a society that demands conformity.

Another symbol is Prometheus. Equality renames himself Prometheus near the end of the book. Prometheus was the Greek titan who defied the gods by bringing humans fire. Equality defied the powers of council by bringing the world light.
