Mollie had "had taken a piece of blue ribbon from Mrs. Jones's dressing-table, and was holding it against her shoulder and admiring herself in the glass in a very foolish manner." This shows us her vanity and how she is self absorbed.

Mollie has always been pampered by Jones and she prefers to be pampered, regardless of who is doing the pampering. Her character is very self-centered and is not considerate for the welfare of the other animals
