Rashad has always enjoyed art. As he gets older he wants his art to say something. He draws inspiration from the Harlem Renaissance painter Aaron Douglas. Rashad shows his technical and creative talent while in the hospital. Rashad creates a drawing of the incident at Jerry’s. The drawing shows Rashad's vulnerability by simply being a young black man in America. The drawing represents Rashad's ability to take control of his own situation.
