Blanche is writing a letter to Shep Huntleigh, her former beau, threatening coquettishly to pay him a visit. In the letter Blanche pretends that her life is perfect, full of cocktail parties and luxury. This reveals the depth of Blanche's despair as well as her desperate attempt for validation.
