Speculate reasons Min is so reluctulant to openly accept Tree-ear. Also, suggest what Tree-ear could do to improve his situation?

I think Min and his wife were just trying to survive themselves. Adopting Tree-ear would be another mouth to feed. Tree Ear could be an apprentice to Min to improve his situation.
