The mood is hopeful and determined. Tree-ear wants nothing more than to learn how to throw a pot. However, as his job with Min continues, Tree-ear finds himself relegated to the more difficult tasks of preparing the clay and cutting wood for the communal kiln. Tree-ear shows his faith in humanity, however, as he continues to go to work everyday without complaint.
