Did the book a Separate Peace remind you of anything?

There are so many things to consider; perhaps the ways in which we hurt the people we are close to as Gene hurts Finny.  Perhaps we consider the way in which the tensions of war can create problems for teenagers as they consider having to serve (think the young soldiers who are going to Afghanistan today).  Perhaps we can think about how different life is for students who attend a prep school - they still exist today and are often quite different from public schools.  Yet the students still have the same or similar problems.
