You have a lot of questions here that want your opinion. Happiness is a pretty subjective concept. My personal goal is to build a sense of peace and happiness despite the external factors in my life. If my house, for example, burned down, I might be disappointed, but the inner peace is not altered. I know, easier said than done but I'm trying to work toward it. I think the speaker's values of acceptance of the "now" as precious is a message today's world desperately needs. So many of us live in the past and the future while the now, the only time that matters, slips away.
