Evidence that Ishmael is not ready or coping well with repatriation

Ishmael likes his life with the Government Soldiers. Although it is brutal, he likes the cameradere and has gotten hooked on the drugs they give him. He does not want to be picked by UICEF for repatriation. Once on the UICEF compound Beah throws his grenade at the rebels boys, but the explosion is delayed so it has little effect.
