A state of martial law results.Beah and Mohamed make their way to a secret market to get food and supplies for their family. The market is chaotic, full of desperate people. There is gas everywhere and people are getting sick. Beah has seen this brutality before and it makes him angry. He needs to live and not get sucked back into a war so he contols his temper.
