A Long Walk to Water

What do Nya's journeys represents both literally and figuratively?

Consider how she changes from the beginning of the story, when she travels 8 hours a day to fetch water for her family, to the books final scene in which she expressed her gratitude to salva for the new well in her village

Nya's journey is both literally and figuratively a matter of life and death. Without water, her family cannot survive. Her gratutude, as given to Silva, can never be put into words. Through Silva's work, Nya will be afforded a future.
