In my opinion, the text is not controversial. In A Jury of Her Peers, Glaspell depicts the time period in an honest and objective manner.... albeit, a manner that exposes bias and points out its inefficiencies. In terms of setting and time period, women did not sit on juries; they took care of their families and homes. They were not asked for their opinions or outlooks on events, and if their thoughts held any sway with their husbands, it was not acknowledged publicly. Note, the author is addressing these biases and critical of the patriarchal society.
