whats is a mocking bird?

There is the actual Mockingbird and then there are characters that are mockingbird-figures in the novel. Characters like Boo Radley and Tom Robinson are mockingbird-figures because they are gentle souls and easily damaged (emotionally). They only seek to do good for other people.
